DEFINITION

Opened in 1957 in Los Angeles by Bill Hanna and Joe Barbara, former MGM animation specialists, it was an animation studio "that dominated North American television animation during the second half of the 20th Century." It lasted until 2001 when it was absorbed in to Warner Bros. Animation. Artists who worked for Hanna Barbera include Gary Niblett, Pete Alvarado, and Robert Caples.
