Glaze - glazing

DEFINITION

A very thin, transparent colored paint, it is applied over a dried painted surface to alter the appearance and color of the surface. In ceramics, Glaze is a thin, vitreous coating fused to the piece with the high heat of the kiln process. Glazing paintings was done in Europe by the Old Masters. Restoration can remove Glaze.
