Confection

DEFINITION

Something sweet tasting and finely made from many ingredients; most likely a candy. Often, metaphorically, a piece of fine craftsmanship ? an example might be a piece of architecture or furniture, or a porcelain figurine, even a painting ? but both sugary and finely crafted. Curiously, the speaker's intent may well be either complimentary or derogatory, but is unlikely to be neutral. Also see bad art, bibelot, bric-a-brac, femmage, gewgaw, kitsch, and tchotchke.
