DEFINITION

Founded in 1947 by representatives of the National Gallery of Canada and 13 other museums, its purpose is to insure uniform standards and training across the country. It has about 2000 members, and activities include conferences, professional development workshops, and national research projects such as "Canadians and their Pasts".
